Manuscript coaching: Write better, edit easier, publish more.

One of the easiest ways to learn how to make the writing process less painful and more productive is to engage in one-on-one, completely personalized manuscript coaching.

What Is Manuscript Coaching?
It's a blend of my editing and writing instruction that you and I undertake together as we shape your manuscript draft into something that will impress journal editors.

The process goes like this:
  1. You complete the form below, telling me about your current manuscript draft.
  2. I review your draft and formulate individualized teaching content based on your areas of greatest need.
  3. We establish a time to meet via Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, zoom, or phone to carefully examine your manuscript as I guide you through my recommended improvements.
  4. If desired (and for an additional fee), I review the manuscript a second time after you have made the changes we discussed in our call. We can then meet a second, third, or fourth time--as many times as you need--to discuss further drafts, your progress in the areas in which you struggle most, and more advanced writing and editing techniques as your paper improves.

I want to recommend Sara D. Hauber as a writing instructor and manuscript coach. While earning my doctor of nursing practice, I had the opportunity to learn from Ms. Hauber how to improve my scientific writing. She was a pleasure to work with, and I found her instruction extremely valuable.

Is Manuscript Coaching Right for You?
That depends. If you just want someone else to do the work--and to pay for work that is really well done, with a high likelihood of getting accepted--and you're not concerned about learning anything in the process, then you need professional editing.

Coaching is a better option if
(1) you have less money to spend on improving your paper, and/or
(2) you actually want to get better as a writer so that you don't need to hire an editor for every manuscript you wish to submit to a journal.

Expert editing is not cheap (the average cost per journal article in 2018 was $1,100).

But coaching can be accomplished for only $295 per manuscript! This fee includes:

  • review of one manuscript (less than 20 pages)*
  • a 60-minute personalized coaching session
  • proven tips for increasing your writing competence and confidence
  • access to all writing resources on my Writing Resources pages
  • recommendations for which resources to access, based on your needs.
And everything you learn you will be able to apply to all of your future manuscripts.

In short, manuscript coaching is all about you becoming a better writer.

We'll address what you need to learn to ultimately have more confidence in your ability to write to publication standards and feel excitement (rather than dread) when faced with writing up your latest project results for publication.

* Due to excessive eye strain, I am only able to review up to 20 pages of text.

Anyone can become a better writer.
All you need is
  1. the right information,
  2. taught in the right way, and
  3. a healthy level of desire to improve.
I'll take care of the first two.
If you've got the third, fill out the form below and contact me today.
